Lineage 2. The beginning…
So…I’ve decided to dedicate a part of that blog to a popular game, called Lineage 2(yep…I play Lineage), course it’s an integral part of my life.
The first time I’ve heard about that creation of NCSoft was in institute, when two of my fellow students (heya Vestel and GilGilad) were talking about some “awesome” private server(aka free-shard) of some “awesome” RPG game. Of course i was interested, course RPG is one of my favorite game genre, but I didn’t want to start playing it course 1) I’ve remembered how the time was running by futile in such games as combats.ru and destinysphere.ru and 2) I was playing Fallout2 (Fallout lives in pur hearts) for a billiard time and I was going off my head on post nuke. But after some prolonged persuasion like “that’s a great game” and “you must see it” I went on that free-shard (heya Balancer)…The first thing, that impressed me was the games graphics. It was awesome. Man! Even the hair of the person was moving!
So I’ve started playing. After some short period of time, i understood that the server wasn’t so awesome, becourse the game engine was writing there from zero and when I’ve started playing there even 1/100 of al the game features wasn’t working. Nevertheless I’ve played there for a year or so with a prolonged breaks, when the server went down for a long time. Once we went to play L2 on a melcosoft server (one of the biggest Russian free-shards), during one those breaks. But we didn’t play there for long, course there was only the “Chronicle 1″ version game.
For those, who don’t know: Each big game add-on is called as “Chaotic chronicle “. There is a “Chronicle 5″ on official servers.
If my memory doesn’t fail me, that was the exact time, when I and Alexaner aka Vestel aka Phlebotomus decided to go play on off-server. After that I’ve played on Balancer server for a half-a-year and quit, course I got fed up of using a a semi-finished product, and than I determined, that it is time to go to an official server.And at last, after my exams were over I bought an L2 box with a game. And hello L2 official world! Good for me, there was Alexanders wedding witness and just a friend, named Konstantin(heya Axilees), who was playing L2 on off-serv, so he and his fellows gladly accepted me into their clan (hello From The World), where I’ve lived to this day. And Alexander betrayed our ideals and traded L2 for his wife (how could he?), so he’s killing time whith his ‘lil daughter and his participation in a L2 world consists of listening to my stories about how L2 is cool. There…
So, lots of people ask me, why I chose L2 instead of World of Warcraft. Of course WoW is quite popular, course of the strategy games. And Blizzard name is quite popular in gamers lines, what couldn’t be said about NCSoft at that time.
The answer is obvious. Just compare this and this…the first opinion is the most essential. Of course you could say that graphics is not most in important in the game (and I agree), so I will give you some info, which made up my decision to play Lineage.
1. To get to the top
As my friends told me, there is a possibility to get to top lvl with a top equipment in WoW for a couple of months. Imho there is no limit of perfection in Lineage 2.
2. So what’s new?
Some time ago WoW game updates consisted of bug fixes and stuff. There is a system of Chronicles in L2 and each chronicle carries quite a load of new game feachures, which change a way of playing a lot. I’ve heard that there is going to be some new feachures in WoW, but man! I’d quit playing WoW three times by that time.
3. What’s the meaning of life?
As i know, the goal of playing WoW is PvP(player versus player). That means, that you get your lvl, get your equip, and go to the arena to pvp… Bullshit! You can go to PvP, take over castles, kill raid bosses, go to fishing, participate in tournaments to become a hero in Lineage.
4. I’d be a blade dancer, who will teach me?
The race/class system is quite primitive in WoW. 5 races and 10 classes? Buuullshit!!! There are 31 classes in Lineage with two intermediate classes for each of them. And each of 5 races has it’s own class set with their own unique skills. You can see how it looks like here.
5. Drinking in solitude is a sign of alcoholism
Lineage is a team playing game, what couldn’t be said about WoW. It’s much more interesting to spend the boring times of grinding in a company.
6. The snow is falling…sell it!
The integral part of Lineage is a market. Harvesting of mat.components and crafting equipment is a crucial part of the game. Dwarfs are the best component harvesters and they are the only ones who can craft an item, so the market part of the game is very important and it makes a game more interesting. But I’ve never heard about a market in WoW, which means it’s so pitiful there (or there is no market at all). Actually I’m not sure here 
Maybe I went to harsh on WoW, but that’s my opinion based on what my friends, who are playing/played WoW, told me and on movies of WoW, I’ve seen (heya YouTube). I would gladly hear your defensive opinions about WoW and your offensive opinions abot L2 and would debate about it with pleasure in comments.\

L2 > All MMO’s In my opinion. I hate WoW with a passion, ive had friends who went from Lineage 2 to WoW, got to level 60 within a month then returned to Lineage. I think the best part of Lineage and what makes it unique is the pvp and the Subclass System.

Well, you are right about WoW. But, the game isn’t even all the way made either. You posted this message on January 16th, 2007. If I can remember right, The Burning Crusade came out the day before you posted this message. The Burning Crusade offers a lot more. A whole new continent, level cap of 70, flying mounts (how cool is that?) new items, new races, new professions. Then we have another expansion pack coming out: The Wrath of The Lich King. Another whole new continent, another level cap to 80, the coolest bad guy in the whole entire game is getting added - Arthas, new character customizations, the ability to be a Death Knight Hero. And with that said, there will probably be another team beside the Alliance and Horde. Human Death Knights cannot be part of the alliance anymore, and they can’t be switched over to the Horde, because that would just be unfair. So I guess that there has to be a whole new team (my guess). Buildings can now be sieged, another new PvP arena, and I might of missed something, but that’s not all. Plus, there will be new Hero classes on down the road in the future. Death Knight won’t be the only one. WoW isn’t even to it’s full potential yet boys. Keep talkin’. By the way, as for the graphics, I’m happy with the graphics on WoW. Sets more of a fun cartoonish environment. Besides, I really don’t want my warrior to look like girl anyway. The art on L2 looks too much like anime. And maybe I’m right, maybe it is anime. Also, I’m a huge fan of dwarves. The dwarves on L2 don’t even look like dwarves. They’re short, and thats about it. But dwarves are supposed to have huge noses. The dwarves on that game just don’t seem as badass as they should be. Humans are stronger than them on there? Pfft. Lame. Dwarves are battle loving tanks. I remember playing the demo of L2, I can honestly say that it was pretty cool and enjoyable. But I like WoW better.

Well new updates are cewl, but the whole concept of the game is the same. Sieges, heros and stuff - L2 already has that for a long time! Rised lvl cap? Pfft…how long will it take you to get 70 to 80 lvl? a week? My friend made a char 0-70 in WoW for less than 2 months playing only at evenings after study and work…there’s no kick-ass PvP in WoW and that’s not fun…and that would be a second update in WoW, right? L2 has a major update every half a year since the begining
I don’t say that L2 is better that WoW. Everyone’s got it’s own taste and plays what he likes, so good luck and have fun in WoW…as for me…I’ll stick to L2 till 2011 and in 2011 i’ll start playing L3 ^__^

I truly Love what u write about L2
the game is so darn beautifull, i love it, and i wich also add to that waterbear said

but lol, L2 has dinosaur mounts, and the castle Lords, can ride on huge dragons, that totally overcome the mounts in wow, the Wyverns are the coolest thing there is!;))

Waterbear, who are you to say the axact guidelines of fantasy? there are different kind of dwarves in every book, story, movie and game, so please don´t be stupid about that will ya.

Like, if u gonna try to get all this l2 fans, to think of wow as a better/funnier and bigger game?? donno, but at least come with some Good, and True, arguments, Fantasy is always fanatsy, dwarwes, elfs, ors, all are different,
do u even know, the Word fantasy? it means Imagination. Some of us me included has played l2 since korean beta, it’s like 4,5 years now, we have seen game’s come and go, but still

So, that’s my fantasy lol The only good dwarves are the ones made by warcraft and LOTR. If they don’t have that kick ass attitude and accent, they aren’t dwarves. Sorry.

Besides, those orcs, I don’t know if I have mentioned this before, are stupid looking. They just look like humans except with green skin. The graphics are a lot more detailed than WoW’s, but the artwork reminds me something a type of game a girl would play. If an orc is going to be evil, can we please make him look evil? :\

errm…Actually L2 orcs are not evil…they’re just another race there…Drow were evil, if you look through game background, but they are not any more…I think…and hey! L2 orcs looks are kick-ass! ^)
